CONCEPT-STORES AND RESTAURANTS
On the ground floor of the building about ten very unusual and lively shops will welcome visitors. The idea of concept-stores has been favoured, in the sense that apart from actually buying, the public will immediately be thrust into the discovery and astonishment of new forms, practices and uses. These points of sale will surprise him while also making his perception more acute. Even here, before he goes up to the exhibition floor, he will be able to participate in mini-debates, book signings and workshops, and to discover unusual images. Here trade will take on its full meaning of a place of exchange.
THE SHOP WINDOWS OF THE DOCKS
Three entrances along the Austerlitz quay lead to the shop windows of the Docks. These amount to 2300 m2 of points of sale, situated along a concourse looking out onto the Seine and similar to that of a ship. As soon as you cross the threshold of number 34, a very animated bookshop, living at the daily rhythm of the Docks, you find yourself at a rendez-vous point.
The following concept-stores, whose occupancy is being signed, will offer numerical objects, video games, high tech textiles, in vivo fashion creation, collections of young European designers of furniture and objects, etc. The Docks shop windows offer round tables, debates and mini-exhibits on a regular basis.
DOCKS EN SEINE TRULY A PLACE TO EXPERIENCE LIFE
Three restaurants on three levels
On the ground level Piazza, on a sort of unusual and contemporary ship pontoon, a first restaurant offers a reasonably priced, original and friendly menu.
At the Seine level, a seasonal restaurant (March to October) is a sheltered place to it down by tha water, facing a redeveloped open river bank area. A surprising place to relax far from the bustle of the city.
On the roof terrace, another restaurant provides escape in the unique ambiance of a vast ship’s terrace overlooking the Seine. There is room for 120 patrons in a personalised décor, appropriate for the activities of fashion and design, and with a culinary concept of quality at reasonable prices (open for lunch and dinner).
